Fruit appearance plays a crucial role in market acceptance and is an important determinant of consumer preference. This study analyzed and compared the visual quality of 34 bag-free peach varieties, including fruit weight, color intensity, and degree of coloration. This study aims to identify the most suitable varieties for bag-free cultivation in the Guanzhong region. The results showed that 16 varieties such as ‘Zhongtaoziyu’, ‘Zhongtaofeiyu’, ‘Jinlinghualu’, ‘Zhongtaojinyang’, ‘Lixiahong’, ‘Ganluzaoyou’, ‘Zijinhong 2’, ‘Zijinhong 3’, and ‘Meiting’ could be cultivated without bagging. Varieties such as ‘Baojiahong’, ‘Baojiajun’, ‘Cuibao’, ‘Yanbao’, ‘Jiuyan’, ‘Daifei’, ‘Xiahui 8’, ‘Jinhua’, ‘Jinshuo’, ‘Jinfeng’, and ‘Jinchun’ had relatively poor appearance when grown without bagging in the Guanzhong area. It is recommended to bag these varieties to improve their commodity value after thinning. Additionally, it advised that flat peaches be bagged during production, as the risk of fruit tip cracking higher when they are not bagged. This study will serve as a guide to help reduce farmers' costs, improve bag-free technology, and promote the growth of the Shaanxi peach industry. |
